Recipes for Play Dough
BEST PLAYDOUGH EVER!
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 1/2 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. alum
1 tbsp. oil
Stir the salt, alum and oil together until dissolved. Then add flour and knead until smooth. It is great. If kept in tightly covered will last a long long time.
2 c. flour
4 tbsp. cream of tartar
4 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 c. salt
2 c. water
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. food coloring, optional
Mix all of the dry ingredients in an 8 cup measure or a 2 quart casserole. If using the food coloring, add it to the water. Stir the water and the oil into the dry ingredients stirring until smooth. Cook on high for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring well, (break up lumps), every 2 minutes, until the play dough clings to the spoon and is no longer sticky. When it is cooked enough, it will be pliable and soft, but not sticky. Turn out onto a plate and cool for a few minutes. Knead it for a minute or two until it is smooth. Store it in a tightly covered plastic container. Refrigeration is not necessary.
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. honey
1 c. powdered milk
1 c. oatmeal
Mix the above ingredients. The children can make shapes out of the "play dough" and eat the creations.
PLAY DOUGH:
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 c. water
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tbsp. baby oil
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. (Cook until playdough is no longer sticky, don't undercook.) Knead. Add food coloring, if desired. This playdough keeps exceptionally well if stored in an airtight container.
KOOL AID PLAYDOUGH:
3 cups flour
1/2 cups salt
2 Koolaide packages
2 cups boiling water
Mix dry ingredients together. Add boiling water. Knead on floured board. Can add flour by sprinkles until desired consistency. This playdough will last for a long time when stored correctly.
CLOUD PLAYDOUGH:
1 cup water,
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil,
6 cup flour
Add a few drops of food coloring to water.
Combine water, oil and flour in a large bowl. Knead well. Add more water if necessary in small amounts until the dough is soft and stretchy. Cloud play dough should be used on a washable surface as it is very greasy.
