20 minutes and a treat!
A Cornucopia of Teaching Ideas - I've assigned different teachers some different teaching ideas (games, visual aids, dramatization, questions, etc.) We have 5 topics and each topic has 5-10 minutes to present. I've asked them to practice them in the classroom before hand and tell about it. I want to split of the Activity Day Leaders and Cub Scouts to a different area and have them do the same thing. I'm thinking about having them do things like incorporating Articles of Faith, teaching the children to track their progress in FIG (including having them report to parents), encouraging the children to participate in planning activities. I'm still working that part out. We're going to start the meeting off with one of the counselors doing a little "lesson" on "Teaching by the Seat of Your Pants" and she's going to pull little ideas or something out of a pair of pants....[Here is a copy of the invitation she created in pdf format:

Here is a cute handout idea that would go with this theme]

Feasting on the Resources - We are going to do something similar to what the councilors did at the Salt Lake City Primary Open House. Each of us has a different area of resources (library, closet, church magazines, internet). We'll each take 10 minutes telling about how to use these resources. In mine, I'll show some video clips. We'll also each have a table with any applicable handouts. Then we're having a taster's table of desserts. (Idea by Kendra

Lots of Teacher Improvement Ideas
Make me a spoon - A meeting could be done around this theme
Online Training - Lessons provide suggestions for overcoming common behavior concerns many Primary teachers face. Each interactive lesson (6 total) can be viewed online and lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.

We are doing a "Primary Leadership Appreciation Dinner" in a few weeks. We have a large number of leaders as well, plus we are inviting the leaders to bring their spouses. We are sending around a sign-up to know how many plan to come, how many spouses, and how many will need a nursery. We are probably going to do ham, potato dishes, salad and rolls with pie for dessert. We are going to have each member of our presidency share a short testimony with the teachers letting them know how appreciated they are and how important. Then we will have a short message from the sister in our ward that is the "Teacher Improvement Leader." Other than that, we are going to video each class telling their teacher what they love about them, then we will have that playing while they are eating dinner. I think providing a nursery, inviting spouses, providing dinner, and promising to keep it to an hour are all things that will entice them to come. (Idea by Kendra Johnson)
