Get a PowerBar and attach the following quote from Elder James E. Faust with the title THE PRIESTHOOD HAS POWER TO BLESS MY LIFE (or anything along those lines). “Priesthood POWER is the POWER and authority delegated by God to act in His name for the salvation of His children. Caring for others is the very essence of priesthood responsibility. It is the POWER to bless, to heal, and to administer the saving ordinances of the gospel. It must be exercised in great love.” (Idea by Angela Williams)

LESSON HELPS: Appreciating and Supporting Priesthood Leaders
The difference between the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood by Katie Poland
Begin your class with the lights turned off. Ask if they anyone noticed something unusual. Turn on the lights. Talk about the power of electricity that gives light. Discuss what things in homes run on electricity (stove, refrigerator, fans, tools, and so on). Explain that your going to talk about a different kind of power, a power stronger than electricity: the power of the priesthood of God.
I am comparing the priesthood to fire. Fire brings heat, comfort, method of cooking, purification etc. It is also something that needs to be handled with respect and reverence. Fire needs two things: fuel and oxygen. Likening the YM/men of the church to the wood-who hold the priesthood. The sisters/YW are the oxygen. Our actions are like a fan. We are beautiful and How we behave very much influences the priesthood bearers. We have the ability to either: 1. help the fire grow 2. shelter it from strong winds (influences that would put it out) or 3. fuel it out of control (to our own demise). I also want to talk about how we are not idle princesses awaiting the rescue. Fans can also be used for defense. (using the scene from Mulan when she is on the roof and battles the bad guy with a fan). I want to refer to YW being Guardians of Virtue (touching on the talk by Elaine S. Dalton). It is our job to be a guardian of virtue, by our daily actions/personal commitments we sustain and support the priesthood. I have beautiful silk fans (I purchased at Micheals in the wedding favor section). I am going to have the YW write the questions from Sister Ardeth Kapp's quote ("By the Way She Is") in the lesson on the spines of the fan and then decorate it with ribbons in the YW values. (Shared by Jean Llacuna / ga04132012)
I had the Young Men's president ask the young men what things the young women could do to support them as they grow in their priesthood authority. Their responses were actually quite amazing. I plan to incorporate these comments into a handout for the young women. (Shared by Jessica)
Lesson Helps from Craft with Me
Ask various priesthood bearers (some young men and some members of the bishopric) to come in the classroom at the very end of the lesson and sing "Ye Elders of Israel". Or you could have a priesthood bearer come in and bear his testimony.

Using the letters in the word “PRIESTHOOD” (Write them vertically on the board) Begin the lesson by asking the class to list everything they know about the Priesthood–if you need to, add the following topics and as they are listed you can talk about each of them. (Alice Gifford)

SHARING TIME IDEAS: Priesthood Blessings - Sharing Time by Laurene Knighton
Beforehand, teach "A Young Man Prepared" (CS, pp. 166-167) to the older boys and have them sing it to introduce a Sharing Time on honoring the priesthood. Also beforehand, ask four or five members of the ward/branch to share their experiences and feelings about the priesthood (see "Stations" in Teaching, No Greater Call, revised edition, p. 179): A returned missionary might share one experience he had on his mission in using the priesthood to bless others; an older priesthood leader might share his feelings about holding and honoring the priesthood; a sister might tell how she honors the priesthood bearer in her home, or has been served by one holding the priesthood; a member of the bishopric/branch presidency might share his feelings about serving in that calling; a priest might tell about his feelings in serving at the sacrament table or in baptizing someone. Divide the children into groups and have them move from station to station. Have the pianist play "A Young Man Prepared" as they move. When all are gathered together again, ask what they have learned. Emphasize that receiving the priesthood means receiving a call to serve. Sing "Called to Serve" (CS, pp. 174-175). (Taken from the October 2000 Sharing Time Suggestion)
