Each person is given a score sheet with a simple "bug" shape already drawn on the top. The aim of the game is to draw a "Jellybug" by rolling certain numbers on the dice in the least amount of time. Each # of the dice represents a different body part: 1=body, 2=head, 3=eye, 4=antenna, 5=tail and 6=leg. #1 has to be drawn first before you can draw the legs or tail, and a #2 must be drawn before you can add eyes and antennas.
Each # only represents 1 body part, for example, the bug has 6 legs, so six 6's must be rolled to total the correct number. Two 3's for the eyes and two 4's for the antennas. When a player throws a number that can be drawn, that player has another throw and continues to throw so long as numbers can be drawn. If the player fails to throw a drawable number, it is the next persons turn. The first person to complete their bug yells out "JELLYBUG!!!" and that round ends.
One point is counted for each body part drawn - a total of 13 points for a completed Jellybug. The player who called JELLYBUG gets a bonus 15 points.
Then 2 people from the table move to another table, and game begins again.
We had prizes for the BEST BUG costume, and ALL the Primary children came in fantastic bug costumes of all kinds.... and so did half the adults!
We had 6 rounds all up, stopping after every 2 for some "buggy" games to break it up a little: Butterfly Bowling (10 Pin Bowling, with wings and antennas on the pins)
Spelling Bee (3 teams of 7 people, each given an envelope with 7 letters. Teams had to race to un-scramble the "bug themed" word)
Jellybug Ball (musical statues to Bug music).
It was a really fun, fast-paced and very LOUD night.
