LESSON HELPS: A sure way to happiness The Highs and Lows of Life You could talk about JOY being an acronym for J-Jesus Christ; O-Others; Y-Yourself. True joy comes when we put Christ first and serve others, then we too will have joy. Bring a cup to class and fill it 1/4 - 1/3 full with vinegar. In a plastic spoon, put 1/2 tsp. of baking soda. Make sure you have a tray underneath the cup as it will spill over. Use the spoon and stir it into the vinegar mixture. Discuss how serving Christ and others will cause our joy to overflow. Contrast one's feelings when you serve others compared to when you serve yourself. You could even tie in the Parable of the Spoon.
