Showing the difference between temporal marriage and eternal marriage. Comparing marriage to donuts. A doughnut is like a temporal marriage, sweet and delicious but built around a big hole- till death do we part. Include with the donuts a handout a note saying- "DONUT" settle - marry the right person in the right place at the right time.” (Idea by Angela Williams)

Temple Hangers - Purchase white, padded hangers from a lingerie store, replace the ribbon and glue on a couple of tiny flowers, available from a craft store or Wal-Mart, and laminated a poem ("Hang on to your values, Hang on to your testimony, Hang on to you goals, So that someday you can 'hang' your temple dress on me") and attached that with very narrow white ribbon. There is a similar temple hanger on this site.

You could give each young woman an empty Pringles can (or something similar) and make a label using pretty scrapbook paper. You could use stickers or print out names on the computer and tape it to each one to personalize it....or even tie a bow around it with pretty ribbon. Challenge them to make temple time capsules. Click here to get information of information you could put inside for each girl. For added motivation you could give them a week or so to get their stuff together and have them bring them to a class activity and continue your discussion about temples, etc. It's not necessary to do so, but sometimes a deadline is added motivation to get things done! : )
LESSON HELPS: A House of God, Sharing Time Idea taken from the Friend, March 2002
As Rain Produces Beautiful Flowers, Preparation Enriches Temple Worship (2007 BYU Women's Conference) - Just as a clouds bursts when it rains, we can burst with preparation. Each raindrop represents a way to prepare. Prayer, fasting, studying the scriptures, and so many more. Just as the rain makes flowers grow, so will our preparation allow the blessings of attending the temple to grow in our lives.
Give each class member a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. Then give class members three or four minutes to write down some of the qualities they would like their future husband or wife to have. After they have done this, have them write down a few things they can do that will prepare them to be able to marry someone like the person they have described.
