Children with bad attitude - We've had a child with a bad attitude. I have read/learned that it is best to ignore the negative and acknowledge the positive. Instead of punishing him for his negative attitude, reward him when his attitude is good. I asked my son what thing he would really like to do. He had to earn 100 positive points to be able to do it. Then when he was positive or handled a situation well, he earned points (we just keep track in our heads...he's a numbers guy!). I would even prompt him when a situation came up where I knew he could react negatively with a little reminder about points, so that he would get in a habit of responding better to situations. It has really been working so far for him. And I am off his back. (Jennifer Cannon)
