MORMONADS: Give of Yourself - Using your time and talents to help others is the best way to avoid getting too wrapped up in yourself.
Get into Family History - Your ancestors are part of the eternal picture. Develop an interest in them. (See D&C 128:15).
Make Yourself Useful - Make yourself available. Your gifts and talents are needed. (See D&C 46:11–26.)
Invest in Bonds - Invest yourself in your family. The payoffs start now and continue through eternity. (See Hymns, no. 300.)
Merit Badge. Home is a great place to “help other people at all times.” And the rewards are terrific. (See Hymns, no 223.)
Be Someone’s Christmas Star. Bring a little light into another’s life. (See Matt. 5:16.)
Feeling Sour? Squeeze in some time for others. Kindness and service bring sweetness to your life. (See Prov. 15:13.)
Leave Your Mark. Make things better than you found them. (See Hymns, no. 223.)
Get Lost. Lose yourself in service. You’ll find yourself happier. (See Matt. 10:39.)
Wholehearted? Is something missing from your Church activity? The greatest blessings come when you serve with your heart and soul. (See D&C 4:2.)
Ready to Serve? If you’re strung too tight to have time for others, there’s a hole in your game plan. (See Gal. 5:13–14.)
Faith without Works Doesn’t Work. Faith without works is like a boat without oars: it gets you nowhere. So stop drifting and start rowing. Otherwise, you’re dead in the water. (See James 2:17–18.)
Give of Yourself. Give your most priceless gift—your time, your support, your love. (See 2 Cor. 9:7.)
Show Your Thanks through Your Giving. See Matt. 25:34–40.
He That Is Greatest among You Shall Be Your Servant. Matt. 23:11
Service. Get a handle on it. Mosiah 2:17
MUSIC: May I Serve Thee? March 2004, Ensign
OBJECT LESSON: Last week, a young man in our ward spoke in sacrament meeting on service. As he gave his talk, he removed his jacket, loosened his tie and took it off, started unbuttoning his shirt, took off his belt, and took off his shoes. All the while he just gave his talk without any mention of what he was doing until the very end, and then he said, "You probably won't remember a word I said by the time you get home, but you will never forget what I did. Actions speak louder than words." (Credit Unknown - you could use this same idea when teaching your lesson.)

TALKS: "The Joy of Service" - Russell C. Taylor, Ensign, Nov. 1984, 23–24. The joy and blessings of service follow the rendering of service.
"President Kimball Speaks Out on Service to Others" - Spencer W. Kimball, New Era, Mar. 1981, 47–49. The more we serve our fellowmen in appropriate ways, the more substance there is to our souls.
"Small Acts of Service" - Spencer W. Kimball, Ensign, Dec. 1974, 2–7. When we are engaged in the service of our fellowmen, not only do our deeds assist them, but we put our own problems in a fresher perspective.
"Called to Serve" - Boyd K. Packer, Ensign, Nov. 1997, 6–8. The willingness of Latter-day Saints to respond to calls to serve is a representation of their desire to do the will of the Lord.
"A Vision of Service" - V. Dallas Merrell, Ensign, Dec. 1996, 10–15. The principle of service is central to the gospel of Jesus Christ and is best grasped by understanding how God is trying to prepare us for eternal life.
"The Spirituality of Service" - Derek A. Cuthbert, Ensign, May 1990, 12–13. Righteous service brings us nearer to Christ, increases our spirituality, and brings others likewise.
"Selfless Service" - William R. Bradford, Ensign, Nov. 1987, 75–76. The only way under the heavens whereby a person can be sanctified is in selfless service.
"Why Do We Serve?" - Dallin H. Oaks, Ensign, Nov. 1984, 12–15. Service is a covenant obligation of all members of the Church of Jesus Christ.
VIDEO CLIPS: For anyone interested, on the Family Home Evening Video Supplement (Volume 1), is a great lesson help titled, "The Power of Compassion" that fits perfectly with the lesson. It's 2 min. 45 sec. Check your church library to see if there is a copy available. (Suggestion by Tiersa Ludlow)
