Amy writes, "Birthday Candy Lei's: I put together the lei's using tubing you can purchase from East Coast Tropics. It is reasonably priced.
Then I bought candy to correspond with each value. Some of the colors you have to be creative. I found that the Dollar Tree had what Wal-mart didn't have.
Then I made a "happy birthday" note and tied it to the lei. We had sacrament meeting last in our ward and so, we would give them to the girls during YW opening exercises, if their birthday was that coming week, and then they would wear it during the meetings and everyone would wonder what they were wearing and why. It made the girls feel special.
My sister used the same idea, but for girls that were leaving. She deals with a lot of military families, so she came up with a way for the girls to write a "good-bye" by having the girls write on a flower dye-cut (they had to be fairly big, with a hole in the middle, she got them at Pebbles in my Pocket, but I am sure you can go to any scrapbook store and find them, or find a friend with a Cricut Machine and then in between the candy, she would string a flower (where the red ribbons are in my picture) that was written on and then continue the pattern until all the flowers were included."
