6. Activity - To help the children practice following the prophet, play “Who’s the Leader?” Have the children sit in a circle. Choose one child to be "it" and leave the room; choose another child to be the leader in the circle. The leader does actions like tapping the knees, patting the head, and raising an arm. The rest of the children follow the leader’s actions. Have "it" return and go to the center of the circle and try to discover who the leader is by watching the children follow him or her. After a correct guess is made, choose two other children to be "it" and the leader.

8. I just wanted to add an idea for teaching about modern day prophets. I guess you would call it "Prophet Matchup". I used this an an enrichment idea to add to this lesson. I teach a group of 11 and 12 year olds that can be a little challenging so I have to be constantly on my toes. I printed out a color picture of each prophet (or you could use the Gospel Art Kit if you have it) and set them down on the floor of my classroom. I put a piece of candy on each picture. The children each went out of the room one at a time and I let the rest of the class decide which prophet was "it". When the child came back in to the room, I gave them some hints like a quote from the prophet, the years that they served and then a short bio about them without disclosing which prophet it was. I found the bios on the church's website and then removed any facts that would make it a dead give away for the children. I also allowed the children to help their classmate. If they could guess the prophet that we were talking about then tehy got the candy. Most of the time with a little help from their classmates they were able to figure out which prophet it was. They really enjoyed it and it gave them some more knowledge of the modern day prophets. (Idea by Heather Woody / ga08262008)
