Colleen writes, "I had to combine my lesson with the lesson on prayer and it worked following the same theme party theme. I came up with a party theme and delivered party invites to each of the girls in my class. It helped build the excitement for the lesson. I found some cute invites at the Dollar Store. This is what was on them:
It's a Party!
For: Brooke (put the name of the YW)

Time: 1:20 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (time you meet to teach)
Place: The Beehive classroom
RSVP: Let me know after class!
I found this list of 110 things to do on the Sabbath. I deleted a few things and made each suggestion one sentence. I tied a ribbon around it and attached a small-filled balloon for my handout. I bought some little sundae ice cream cups for a treat. On the board, I had:
Who:
What:
Where:
When:
Why:
RSVP:
I then went through the material in the lesson and the wonderful talks from the Resource Manual and put the information in each of the categories. I was finally able to organize all of the wonderful material.
Who is the Sabbath Day for?
What is the Sabbath Day?
Where do we go on the Sabbath Day?
When is the Sabbath?
Why do we have the Sabbath?
There was so many wonderful quotes and information to share about the sabbath, along with promises!
At the end of the lesson, I explained what RSVP means. Google it for the full definition. When we RSVP to something, we let the person know one way or another if we will be there. Heavenly Father lets us decide what we will do. We have our free-agency to choose if we will keep the sabbath day holy. The inviatation is there for each of us to choose to obey so that we can receive the blessings promised to each of us.
I was in the car today and one of my Beehives that wasn't there said she had heard that she had missed the best party! It really wasn't a party but seemed to have left an impression on the girls. The spirit was very strong, each Young Woman was able to share scriptures, quotes, personal thoughts on the Sabbath, etc. I loved the thought on the three questions to ask when deciding if it would be appropriate for the Sabbath. We took time to try it out on several activities the girls came up with such as swimming or a bike ride. The best was that each Young Woman seemed to leave class wanting to RSVP that they would keep the Sabbath day holy!"
