Sarah writes, "We are switching the 4th Sunday Sharing Time with the third Sunday in honor of National Ice Cream day on July 15th. We will be building a banana split with each honesty scenario. When we finish we will talk about the long term consequences of honesty being the sweetest reward of all. We will then bring in ice cream for all the children.
I made the Banana Split from Construction paper and kept it simple. We'll be following the outline pretty closely. I attached the scenarios we adapted from CTR A Lesson 26, the sharing time outline, and a few other places. I hope this helps someone!"
SCENARIOS:
What are the consequences of being honest?
What are the consequences of being dishonest?
The immediate consequences of being honest may be difficult, but the long term consequences will lead to peace and happiness.
* You were playing in the backyard with your brother. He did something that you didn’t like, and you hit your brother and he started crying. Your mother asks why he is crying?
* You bought a candy bar at the store, but when you got home you noticed the clerk gave you too much change.
* You have a spelling test tomorrow, but you want to watch your favorite TV show. You arrive to school, not prepared to take the test, but your best friend knows how to spell each word.
* You climbed over a fence on your way home from school and tore your best pants. You know your mother will be upset because she has told you many times not to climb the fence in your school clothes.
* You went to your friend’s house to play, but she friend was not home. As you were leaving, you see her bike in the yard. You ride her bike home.
* You found a five dollar bill on the floor at school.
* Your mother gave you two pieces of candy, one for you and one for your brother. While your brother was gone, you ate both pieces of candy.
* You receive your report card from school and received a “D” in science. When your Dad asks to see your report card you tell him you haven’t received it yet.
* Your mother tells you that you can’t get up from the table until you have eaten all your dinner. Everyone has now finished and left the kitchen.
