1. You and some friends go to the mall, and one of your friends starts smoking a cigarette. That friend then says, "Here, have one. You're not too goodie goodie to just try one, are you?" How would you deal with the situation?
2. The older brother of a friend from school is getting married and you go the wedding. Everyone has been poured a glass of champagne for the traditional toast to the bride and groom. You are given one as well. What do you do? How do you explain that you are not being disrespectful to the bride and groom?
3. You are invited to a barbecue with a school friend and as the evening progresses the adults "supervising" you have become preoccupied. Your friend and older sibling sneak some alcohol and pressure you to just taste it. Just a sip so you'll know what it tastes like. They claim that it can't be so bad, it's not illegal like drugs and most people drink to celebrate special occasions. They've all taken a sip, and they hand the drink to you. What do you do?
4. You catch your younger sister sneaking cookies again. She never wants to eat her vegetables or drink her milk. She would much rather eat sweets and happy meals for the rest of her life. How do you help your sister understand her actions with relation to the Word of Wisdom?
5. You have a TV in your room, and there is a show you like to watch late at night. It's so funny and you have watched it faithfully for the last month. You still have to get up early for seminary and school. You can barely get to seminary on time and when you do, you fall asleep. This continues through your first three periods of classes. This is becoming a problem and your teachers notify your parents. How, if you were in your parents position, would you handle this situation?
6. After school, you catch a ride home from some friends. On the way, they stop by the new coffee shop in your town. You go inside with them, and they tell you how great the new iced mocha cappuccino is. It's really chocolatey and refreshing on a hot day, and you friend offers to buy you one. "Well...it's not a hot drink," you murmur to yourself. What do you think is the right thing to do and why? What are some other scenarios which could be used to demonstrate trying to justify drinking the iced coffee or tea?
7. You've come home, yet again, from a long, hard day. You're asked to do a chore that you were asked to do last week, but you just sink deeper into the couch and "vege out" watching TV. "I work hard everyday, and I can't ever relax," you grumble to yourself. You ignore the request and do nothing. Why is idleness bad in connection with the Word of Wisdom? How would you feel if you asked someone to help you, and the person you're depending on doesn't come through? How does this affect your attitude?
8. You've put off taking the dog for a walk again. You think to yourself, "If I go outside and pet Fido a couple of times, that'll be enough." Are you neglecting the blessings the Word of Wisdom has to offer? Why?
9. Your mom asks you to play with your younger brother outside while she prepares dinner. His favorite game is tag. You try to appease him by suggesting playing with his plastic army men, but he really wants to play tag! You try to find a game where you don't have to get off your chair. How are you cheating yourself out of the blessings of the Word of Wisdom? What kind of an example are you, especially to those dependent or who look up to you? How do you think this could affect your little brother?
10. While you were sick, you took some cough medicine which helped you sleep. Now, you have a big exam you are worried about and it is keeping you awake. You think to yourself, "I know I'm not sick, but it would sure help me sleep if I took some." Why is this not a good idea? How could this seemingly "little" act snowball into something big? In what ways would this be going against the Word of Wisdom?
